Lewiston ID Community Strategic Plan Nearing Completion

Points Consulting is near completing the 2022-2026 Lewiston Community Strategic Plan for the City of Lewiston, Northern Idaho’s second largest city. Lewiston is located at the confluence of the Snake and Columbia Rivers and is home to the West Coast’s furthest inland port. The Lewiston Community Strategic Plan is intended to guide the goals and activities of community leaders in Lewiston, including citizens, private businesses, and non-profit organizations, as well as city government departments.

In partnership with the City of Lewiston, we achieved a high level of public engagement as we gathered data for the plan, with a 4.5% survey response rate totaling 1500+ responses. Points Consulting also organized four separate focus groups with various audiences from the Lewiston community.

Notably, 75% of survey respondents said they would like the city to invest in sidewalks and walking paths over other forms of alternative transportation, and 66% indicated they would like to see private sector and non-profit investment in small and mid-sized business growth over other business and housing concerns. The data also indicated a strong community interest in focusing both public and private sector investment in developing more retail and shopping options in Lewiston over the next five years. Indeed, three times as many respondents choose investment in retail and shopping over any other single option.

Lewiston city officials are in the process of completing and approving the Community Strategic Plan and we expect to see it published in its final form in early 2022.
